How much are classes?
All of our classes are sold in month-long blocks of four classes/month. The total per-month cost is listed on the individual class pages and varies based on the course.
How many classes will I need to take?
You will learn a great deal in just a few classes, but like anything worth sticking to, you likely won't see the results you desire until you have been taking for a few months.
How fast will I see results?
You can learn a lot in a few basic lessons, but to really become proficient, you will have to put in a lot of practice time. Most students take a few months to start seeing results. The rewards are well worth the effort!
Is this a technical class?
It is much better to think of it as an art class that has technical aspects. In this class, students learn to draw, paint, and animate. While there are technical aspects, we have fun and easy ways of teaching them.
Do I need to bring my own computer?
No. Each student has their own workstation complete with computer, necessary software, a stylus and tablet.
How young is too young?
While we set no limits on age, five is typically when motor skills and attention span reach the necessary development to make it possible for children to succeed and enjoy our classes. Parents are welcome to sit in with their children.
What software do you use/teach?
In the Design & Animation course, you will primarily be working with Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Flash. If you are interested in purchasing the software to use at home, Adobe does offer student discounts. You can learn more by visiting Adobe.com. Please note that we are not affiliated with Adobe. We have no control over pricing.
Students will also use Maya 3D by Autodesk. Student versions of the program may be downloaded for free here. Paper Plane Learning is not affiliated with Autodesk.
Which tablets do you use in class?
We use Wacom tablets. Each student will have one at their workstation. If you are interested in purchasing one for your home, you can find them here. Please note that we are not affiliated with Wacom. We have no control over pricing.
What should I do if I miss a class?
We offer make-up classes to accommodate students who have missed days. When you return to class the following week, let your instructor know that you missed the previous class. They will be able to tell you the date that the next make-up class is scheduled.
